March to Mumbai - Distance so far - 0 Km

Support our 7,000 km walk in aid of the India Immersion Project
Weekend of 28/29 January  2023

Tullamore Harriers Athletic Club

The Coláiste Choilm Tullamore India Immersion Project Community are hoping to take on the mammoth task of virtually travelling to Mumbai in what is being referred to as our ‘ March to Mumbai’.

The 2023 India Immersion Project represents the 10th trip to Mumbai by Coláiste Choilm students, and was previously undertaken by a number of schools in Ireland. It was created to give students an opportunity to experience the lives and culture of fellow students in India.

Coláiste Choilm  is one of the few schools still undertaking this journey. It is an integral part of the life of Coláiste Choilm school, and a lot of preparation takes place before the boys ever leave Ireland.

For our students traveling to Mumbai this is a unique and life changing experience, as the name suggests the students become immersed in the life and culture of the local community and do as much as they can to leave a positive impact on all those they meet.

During the three weeks in Mumbai the teachers and students will stay in the Don Bosco High School in Matunga and will undertake charity work at the following locations:

  • Children of Don Bosco Shelters Mumbai
  • Drug Rehabilitation Centre in Lonavla
  • The less fortunate in the Mother Teresa Centre, Ashadaan

Many other Outreach Centres, such as Prem Sedan Orphanage in Madh Island
Preparation for the Project is progressing well but funding needs to be raised to make this a possibility and a success.  The money raised from our ‘March to Mumbai’ will go towards funding the trip, and any additional money raised will be donated directly to the Don Bosco and Mother Teresa shelters.

Thank you for supporting this very worthwhile cause.
